Philosophy and poetics of musical images in the lyrics of V. Gerasymyuk, I. Malkovich, I. Rymaruk

Abstract

The article analyses the philosophical and artistic aspects of musical images in the works of the representatives of the 1980’s poetic generation Vasily Gerasymyuk, Ivan Malkovich, Igor Rymaruk. As the theoretical and methodological basis of the study the concepts of the works of T.S Eliot and O. Makhov have been selected, who considered the principles of interaction between verbal and musical art. By each of the eighty-poets, musical images and allusion have acquired the original artistic expression, closely associated with various spheres of culture – theater, myth, and poetry. In the artistic expression of the world of music the poets are combined due to these features of style: philosophity, metaphority, complex subtext, and associations. The formala “poetry is the music of the soul” has been consistently established on an aesthetic plane in their works. The musical images of I. Malkovich are distinguished by their connection with the poetics of the absurd theatre, the aesthetics of the folk cave, and theatrical thinkin. In the lyrics of V. Gerasymyuk, the musical images are closely connected with mythopoetics and metaphorical thinking. In I. Rymaruk’s works the associative, hermetic and apocryphal plan has been observed in the expression of musical images. The poets represent the stylistic direction of Ukrainian poetry in the second half of the twentieth century – aestheticism. The main poems of the authors have been analyzed with musical images.
