Abstract

Interpretation has been given for such basic linguistic notions as synonyms, synonymic series, shade of meaning, lexical word meaning; intrinsic organization of synonymic series and its limits have been explained, and the criteria for classification of synonyms have been identified. Synonymous nest is formed on the basis of common semantic associations, has an inner propositional-semantic organization and fuzzy, diffuse boundary. The author hopes that this list of major lexical associations in successive historical levels in the language development can play an important role in the system view on the formation and dynamics of the world picture of the native speakers of this language.
