The article is devoted to the analysis of E. M. Forster’s anticolonial novel “A Passage to India”. The relationship of writer’s poetics to the intellectual prose is accentuated. In the basis of the research is the thesis that in the critical reviewing the Postvictorian period of expansion of British Empire to India the author describes the Anglo-Indian fellowship as a “society of the spectacle” (Guy Debord).
