The article is devoted to the study of the exteriorisation of semiotic components of media discourse in the English-language visual space. Attention is focused on the peculiarities of contemporary media discourse, which is acquiring the characteristics of multimedia, transmedia and interactivity, resulting in increased semiotic saturation. It is determined that in visual-verbal media narratives, the psychological component plays a key role, performing not only informational and educational functions, but also cultural mediation and therapeutic functions. The article highlights the main thematic blocks related to the representation of parental and child images. The emphasis is on the key oppositions ‘ideal/non-ideal mother,’ ‘ideal/non-ideal parents,’ ‘ideal/non-ideal child,’ which in contemporary media texts reflect socially relevant models of upbringing, identity, and interpersonal relationships. The use of a semiotic approach allows us to trace the latent meanings hidden in verbal, visual and multimodal representations and to identify the mechanisms of their influence on the mass recipient. The analysis shows that maternal and paternal figures in the English-language media space appear ambivalent: on the one hand, they perform a supportive function of socialisation and the formation of positive values, and on the other, they can become a source of internal conflicts and psychological barriers. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of the child as a central semiotic component that embodies the ideas of development, authenticity, inner goodness, and the potential for self-realisation.Thus, the English-language visual media space is conceptualised as an integrative communicative platform that combines semiotic and psychological parameters, forming mature models of social interaction and contributing to the rooting of culturally significant values in public consciousness.
