THEME-RHEME STRUCTURE IN TRANSLATION (ON THE PROSE OF D.LESSING)

The article analyzes components of theme-rheme structure in a discourse. The typical structure difference between a stylistically neutral text and an emotional or logically focused discourse is represented. Concerning the topic, some examples of D. Lessing novel “In this World, Ben…” translated into Ukrainian are given. The article suggests to avoid the common practice in translation not to preserve the syntactical pattern of the original emphatic sentence.
