COMPETENCY-BASED APPROACH TO PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF LINGUISTS IN GREAT BRITAIN

In the article, the study of British experience as for applying the competency approach to training future linguists has been actualized. The author has analyzed the concept of competency on the basis of views of leading British scholars; the author has justified the shift in a paradigm of specialists’ professionalism identification. In the article there have been analyzed the phenomenon of educational benchmarking in higher education in Great Britain.
