The article interprets the function of humour and grotesque in children's literature. The implicit child-reader reception is developed and two works by R. Dahl are taken into account. The analysis of the poetics of reception components are also given. It is stressed upon Dahl's specific description of the background and the characters; the world view and world reception of the children are also taken into account.
