The purpose of social work with children with limited health opportunities is their social adaptation, rehabilitation, awareness of the most comfortable conditions for life, realization of the child's needs, etc. The authors consider social adaptation as a set of interrelated measures aimed at restoring human health, its impaired or lost functions. Also separately within the framework of the modern psychological and pedagogical approach, the essence of rehabilitation is considered not with an emphasis on the restoration of impaired capabilities, but on the formation of the necessary internal characteristics of people with disabilities and their relatives (new values, meanings). Important in this approach is the actualization of the hidden potential of all family members. The authors emphasize that the social adaptation of children with health disabilities in society is one of the key tasks of social support. In this regard, it should not be limited to measures aimed at medical rehabilitation. The authors emphasize that this approach is due to the fact that children should not become a "burden" for society, but be its active participants and bring significant benefits. That is why pedagogical and psychological models of rehabilitation activities should be used for the social adaptation of children. Such models take into account what disabled people experience as problems caused by the disease itself, but also related to the unpreparedness and unadaptability of society to their individual special needs. Social adaptation is the process of a child acquiring special knowledge, values and norms that characterize social culture or the culture of a certain social group. The result of effective social adaptation of children with disabilities is the possibility of their full participation in social life and social relations. Social adaptation and support help equalize the opportunities of children with disabilities. In today's world, the social adaptation of children with health disabilities involves the provision of complex support, which includes: socio-psychological adaptation, socio-environmental adaptation, socio-cultural adaptation, socio-pedagogical rehabilitation and social adaptation.
