COMPONENTS OF THE AUTHORITY OF THE HEAD OF AN INSTITUTION OF GENERAL SECONDARY EDUCATION IN MODERN UKRAINE

Abstract

The article defines the components of the authority of the head of a general secondary education institution in modern Ukraine and reveals the peculiarities of the influence of the school head's authority on the effectiveness of management activities. The author used methods of analysis, synthesis, systematization, generalization, categorical and functional analysis, survey.  The study, based on the analysis of the literature, clarified the concept of the leader's authority, which is considered as the generally accepted informal influence of any person in various spheres of social life (education, education, science), based on knowledge, moral qualities and experience.  It has been proven that the authority of the school principal depends to a greater extent on his presence of social and psychological qualities (the ability to resolve conflicts in the relationships of teachers; the ability to correct the mistakes of subordinates in the correct form; to show interest in the life of teachers outside of work), which, according to teachers, are lacking the most, and to a lesser extent from professional, business and administrative qualities.  The teachers noted the powerful influence of purely human qualities of the leader on their authority among colleagues, which is explained by the fact that such personality qualities as tact and endurance, justice, the ability to respect people contribute to the unity of team members around their leader, awakening and maintaining a sense of respect among teachers and trust him. Which leads to the strengthening of the manager's position in the team, confirmation of his authority, allows the director to put forward his demands. It was found that the dynamism and high pace of school life, surprises and failures cause teachers to be highly sensitive, therefore, humanity in relationships increases the emotional status of the team, its willingness to work creatively, support the requirements of the manager, contributes to the formation of a positive attitude of teachers to their work.
