Abstract

The article analyzes the impact of globalization and migration processes on the current state and development of the English language in Great Britain. Analyzing the impact of globalization on the English language in Britain, examples are given of the impact of the Internet and social media on language practice, including the spread of new words such as “blog”, “streaming” and “meme”. The impact of international business and science on the standardization of English as a lingua franca in international communication is proven. In the context of migration processes, the formation of new dialects and accents in the English language is demonstrated. Specific examples of the influence of various linguistic and cultural traditions of immigrants on the development of “multicultural London English” (MLE) are given, where borrowings such as “innit” and “man dem” reflect modern sociolinguistic changes. The study also covered changes in the educational field, in particular the evolution of English language teaching methods in response to contemporary linguistic and cultural challenges. The authors analyze the transition from traditional methods to more flexible and interactive forms of learning, taking into account the diversity of the contingent. On the basis of the analysis, conclusions were drawn, in which it is noted that the English language in modern Britain is undergoing significant changes under the influence of globalization and migration processes. On the one hand, as a result of globalization, the English language has taken the position of the global language of communication, is used in international organizations and is becoming a key tool in the fields of business, science and technology. On the other hand, intensive migration processes enrich the English language with new words and phrases from other languages, influence the formation of new dialects and accents. These processes affect educational policy, methods of teaching English and the social integration of migrants. They also pose new challenges to language policy and educational planning in the context of a multilingual society.
