Abstract

The article presents a comprehensive analysis of the role of teaching internship in general secondary education institutions in developing professional competencies of higher education students majoring in A4 Secondary Education, subject specialization Art (Visual Arts). It is substantiated that teaching internship is a system-forming component of the educational and professional program, ensuring the integrity of professional training of future visual arts teachers through the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical pedagogical experience. The study identifies the place of teaching internship within the structure of the educational and professional program and analyzes its relationship with the development of integral, general, and professional competencies. The main areas of activity of higher education students during the internship are revealed, including planning and conducting lessons and educational activities in the integrated course Art and visual arts, organizing extracurricular and out-of-class artistic activities, as well as participation in cultural, educational, and creative projects. Special attention is paid to the development of psychological-pedagogical and methodological competencies, enhancement of artistic and creative skills of future visual arts teachers, and the implementation of inclusive, health-preserving, and communicative components of the educational process. It is proven that teaching internship creates favorable conditions for professional self-determination of higher education students, the development of pedagogical reflection, and the ability to engage in subject-subject interaction with students, parents, and the teaching staff. The article concludes that teaching internship contributes to the formation of a holistic professional position of future visual arts teachers and their readiness for independent pedagogical activity in modern general secondary education institutions. Prospects for further research are outlined, focusing on improving the content, forms, and methods of practical training of future art teachers, as well as expanding the use of innovative and digital educational technologies.
