Abstract

The article addresses the issue of developing professional mastery of specialists in physical culture and sports in the context of contemporary requirements for their professional activity. It is determined that professional mastery involves the formation of methodological, motor, organizational, and communicative competencies, as well as the ability to effectively plan and organize educational and training processes. The purpose of the study is to determine the methodological potential of studying gymnastics in the formation of professional mastery of specialists in physical culture and sports and to develop methodological recommendations for its implementation in the process of professional training. The article theoretically substantiates the significance of the academic discipline “Gymnastics and Methods of Its Teaching” as a fundamental component of professionally oriented training for future specialists. The results of a survey of twenty physical education teachers and coaches are presented, demonstrating a high assessment of the methodological potential of gymnastics in the professional development of specialists. The majority of respondents noted that during the study of the discipline the most effectively developed skills include explaining and demonstrating motor actions, organizing classes and ensuring safety, as well as analyzing and selecting exercises according to the age and individual characteristics of learners. The survey results confirmed that mastery of gymnastics teaching methods significantly enhances the level of professional competence of a physical culture and sports specialist. Based on the generalization of the research findings, methodological recommendations are proposed to improve the effectiveness of teaching gymnastics in higher education institutions, in particular strengthening the practice-oriented focus of training, developing readiness for individualization of the educational process, and integrating modern digital technologies. It is concluded that the methodology of teaching gymnastics has significant methodological potential and serves as an important means of forming comprehensive professional mastery of future physical education teachers and coaches.
